Visit Sutri, spend unforgettable hours in the footsteps of the Etruscans immersed in the green countryside of Lazio. A little over an hour from Rome, crossing the Via Cassia you reach the enchanting and Ancient City of Sutri, ancient gate of southern Etruria. Strolling along the Etruscan Necropolis, one of the best preserved examples of Roman tombs dating from the I century BC B.C. and the third century A.D. you reach the Amphitheater, the only one of its kind as it is completely excavated in the tuff. Not far from the Amphitheater is the small Church of the Madonna del Parto. The Church, originally built as a Mithraeum, preserves inside the wonderful fresco depicting the Nativity. Passing through Porta Furia you can access the narrow streets of the medieval village that lead to the delightful Piazza "drawing room" which houses the monumental fountain of the eighteenth century, an Etruscan arch on which rests a clock tower and on which overlooks the Town Hall in whose courtyard preserved ancient Roman epigraphs. Take a dip in the "Romanesque" by visiting the Church of San Silvestro, then reach one of the most suggestive corners of the city from which you can enjoy a magnificent panorama: the Antico Lavatoio. Tasty lunch with tasting on site.
