The church is dedicated to Clement, the third pontiff in history, which according to legend, after being exiled to Crimea in the Black Sea was thrown tied to an anchor. The original basilica, built in 385, was destroyed in 1084 by the Normans. It was rebuilt in 1108 by Pasquale II on the two previous churches, which were brought to light in 1857.
Facade: the entrance is formed by a porch of the twelfth century, which leads to a portico with Ionic columns. The late Baroque façade is the work of Carlo Stefano Fontana;
Indoor plant: a form of a basilica; Naves, three apses;
Presbytery: above the crypt is the tabernacle supported by four columns of precious pavonazzetto;
Apse:the great mosaic of the Roman school of the twelfth century;
Frescoes: Giuseppe Chiari, Masolino da Panicale
