The Prison Mamertine or Carcer Tullianum is the oldest prison in Rome.
From Friday 21 December 2018 Hr. 12.30 re-opened to the public after the forced closure following the collapse of the ceiling of the above Church of San Giuseppe dei Falegnami

The itinerary includes an emotional visit, with a series of performances made from time to time of sounds, lights and videos, along a visit itinerary that will begin on the slopes of the Capitol with the descent to the ancient Church of San Pietro in Carcere, to continue in the "Tullianum", where according to tradition San Pietro was held prisoner, continue along the walls where it is evident the stratification from the years of the foundation of the city until the first century AD, then arrive at the suggestive Chapel of SS. The visit lasts about an hour, with the help of multimedia devices (tablets)
For each time slot maximum 15 people, the number is as a consequence number of tablets available; for groups over 15 person, the use of 1 tablet every 2 person.
