Dancing Partners is a networked project started in 2013 to promote contemporary dance by a team of established artists of different nationalities. Conceived as a touring initiative, DP stops in each of the countries involved (Spain, Sweden, England and Italy) where following a temporary residence, place of exchange and confrontation between the various artists in the headquarters of the Host Company, they are scheduled performance workshops, meetings, debates with the public itself and with students approached in the project's training activities. DP thus has not only an aim of promoting the work of the artists involved, but a strong roots in the territories touched by industry training activities as well as the public. The partners are Thomas Noone Dance (Spain), Norrdans (Sweden) and Company Chameleon (England) and Spellbound Contemporary Ballet (Italy) .. The different components, find themselves working and mixing in projects where the common denominator on the sharing of a common artistic thought prevails over the label of the individual but above all where the aspect of plurality leads to support widespread initiatives for the rapprochement of the public and the promotion of contemporary culture: show houses on the street, lectures and meetings at schools and universities, workshops for children as well as for adults and open tests are just some of the contents that DP combines with show performances in the different countries involved. Since 2018, the project has started a new creative survey process aimed at co-creation programmes between the four companies already tested following two residences in Sweden and Spain respectively, a model that aims to export to other geographies drawing on the different artistic influences of the different local identities in approaching creation.
NOTES ON GUESTS CAMPANIES
SPELLBOUND CONTEMPORARY BALLET (ITALIA)
Born in 1994, at the behest of the choreographer Mauro Astolfi who founded the Company on his return from a long period of artistic stay in the United States. Since 1996 Astolfi shares the production project with Valentina Marini with which the Company starts a process of intense internationalization and cross-cutting collaborations. With an unmistakable stylistic figure enhanced by an ensemble of dancers considered among the excellences of the latest generation, Spellbound is now on the shortlist of the most competitive Italian proposals on the level of a dialectic an expression of a dance that is offered to the public with a broad vocabulary and in continuous experimentation, convincing the audiences of the main Festivals of Europe, Asia, the Americas. The ensemble is approaching the twenty-five years of activity, a period of time in which the production of dance performances has always united and with increasing interest training and education projects of both the public and at least two generations of dancers. Spellbound's activities, in addition to Astolfi's creations, encompass a series of productions and projects networked with other artists and institutions on an international scale, such as the recent "La Mode", an installation signed by Tomoko Mukayiama and Tojo Ito that inaugurated the National Taichung Theater in Taiwan in October 2016. Production activities have also been supported by the Ministry of Cultural and Tourism Assets and Activities since 2000.
