Roma Summer Fest 2022
HERBIE HANCOCK
Wed 13 Jul | 21:00 | Cavea
Herbie Hancock, a legend of world music, will be in concert on 13 July 2022 at the Auditorium Parco della Musica. The summer date is a rescheduling of the concert initially scheduled for July 23, 2021, at the same venue.
Herbie Hancock, in the sixth decade of his professional life, remains where he has always been: at the forefront of culture, technology, business and music. A legendary pianist and composer, Herbie Hancock has been an integral part of every musical revolution since the 1960s. As a member of the Miles Davis Quintet, he pioneered a revolutionary sound in jazz, then developed new approaches in his recordings and, in the 1970s, with record-breaking albums such as 'Headhunters', he combined electric jazz with funk and rock in an innovative style that continues to influence contemporary music. Over the course of his career, Hancock has received an Academy Award for the soundtrack to "Round Midnight" and 14 Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year.
He currently serves as Creative Chair for Jazz for the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Institute Chairman of the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz. In 2011, Hancock was named a UNESCO Ambassador by UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova, received a Kennedy Center Honours Award in 2013, and a Grammy Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2016.
The Herbie Hancock concert, initially scheduled for 19 July 2020, postponed to 23 July 2021 and suspended until today, has been moved to 13 July 2022, again in the Cavea of the Auditorium Parco della Musica.
Tickets already purchased remain valid for the new date.
