The museum, dedicated to sacred art, was opened in 2001 after three years of work.
The project involved the renovation of prestigious local and hidden - like the roof of the south aisle of the church - and was the first museum created after the establishment of the Roman Museum.
was created as a modern and versatile in the full respect of the ancient structure.
The museum is divided into a series of rooms in a configuration from the gallery, brought to the same level thanks to a system of floor covered by a wooden deck.
To cover it was decided to leave sight of the original wooden beams of the nave, allowing natural lighting environments through skylights.
It is accessible from the entrance of the church and independent of the Palazzo della Pietà dei Fiorentini arch.
