Affacciata sul Mar Tirreno, è circondata da sei ettari di giardino all'italiana in cui è possibile ammirare reperti archeologici della Roma Imperiale.  Dal 1960 al 1975 La Posta Vecchia è stata residenza in Italia di Jean Paul Getty, che l'arredò con l'aiuto del celebre critico d'arte Federico Zeri, all'epoca responsabile del Museo Getty in California. Ogni arredo acquistato da J. P. Getty è ancora oggi a La Posta Vecchia, rendendola un albergo unico al mondo per la sua eccezionale valenza storica e artistica .  La Posta Vecchia fu costruita nel 1640 dal Principe Odescalchi, a confine col suo castello di Palo Laziale, appositamente per accogliere amici e viaggiatori. Inizia a deteriorarsi nel 1918, a tal punto da cadere presto in rovina.  Nel 1960 Jean Paul Getty acquistò La Posta Vecchia ed un ampio parco adiacente, e a lui va il merito di aver riportato La Posta Vecchia ai suoi splendori secenteschi grazie ai lavori di restauro durati circa 5 anni. Grazie al sodalizio tra Jean Paul Getty e il critico d'arte Federico Zeri, ognuna delle 7 suites e delle 12 camere ha un proprio inconfondibile stile. |
  37 km from Rome's Fiumicino Airport, 30 minutes from the Port of Civitavecchia and 40 minutes from the centre of Rome.  La Posta Vecchia in Palo Laziale is a seventeenth century villa, sensitively tranformed into a luxury hotel in 1990. Since 1992, it has been a member of the Relais & Chateaux Association .  The villa overlooks the Tyrrenean sea and is surrounded by 15 acres of Italian gardens. An archaeological museum containing many interesting Roman relics can be found on the premises. Between 1960 and 1975 La Posta Vecchia was the Italian residence of Jean Paul Getty. It was furnished at the time with the help of Professor Federico Zeri, curator of the Getty Museum in California.  All of the furnishings have remained unchanged since Getty's day, giving La Posta Vecchia not only its luxurious allure, but historical significance as well. In 1640 Prince Odescalchi built a guesthouse for his castle at Palo. Around the year 1918, the building fell into disuse and was left to deteriorate. In 1960, Jean Paul Getty convinced Prince Ladislao Odescalchi to sell him what had become the ruins of La Posta Vecchia along with its surrounding land. The restoration process, which took five years to complete, returned the residence to its original splendor, transforming it into to La Posta Vecchia as we know it today. Thanks to the collaboration between J.P.Getty and the art critic Federico Zeri, each of the 7 Suites and 12 Rooms has its own distinct style. |
