Opened in 1999, the Museo del Corso instantly qualified to join the international circuits of exhibitions and retrospectives. The combination of traditional and innovative styles of exhibiting is a new way of producing culture that has proved to be successful and soon brought the Museum to be a universally recognised cultural centre. The important exhibitions held in the first years showed artists and periods that have had a strong impact on both Italian and global culture. However, modern art has not been neglected since many exhibitions on this subject have been held in the Museum's 'Caveau'. Moreover, in order to increase the Museum's cultural resources, in 2003 the Foundation decided to establish a permanent exhibition of a selection of works of art belonging to its private collection. Consequently, the Museum no longer holds just special exhibitions as it now gives the public a chance to admire an artistic heritage that, until recently, only a few people had seen. |
