COURSE FOR BEGINNERS AND ADVANCED

Beginners course to snow, ice and mixed ground climbing, leading "easy" routes (max. grade III) in winter ground, knowledge of typical winter mountain problems and dangers are the goals of the teaching. 4 theoretical lessons (1h 30 min.) and 6 climbing days (2 Sundays and 2 week-ends) for technical training and ascents. Week-end overnight in mountain huts.

Theoretical lessons: 1) introduction, 2) equipment and belay techniques, 3) snow transformations and avalanche danger, 4) orientation, maps, compass, guidebooks, route choice.

Practice: 1) rock climbing with boots (easy ground), belay and anchors, 2) snow and ice climbing, introducing ice-axe and crampons, belay and anchors, 3) improvised techniques in mountain rescue, 4) ascent of a snowy gully to the West Summit of Gran Sasso, 5) short climbs in mixed ground, 6) Gran Sasso's Corno Piccolo ascent along "Danesi" route.

ADVANCED COURSE
Two week-ends to experience rock climbing in winter conditions in the Gran Sasso Range. Plastic boots, crampons, heavy dressing, we are here to learn how to disengage ourselves among rock, snow and ice. Four ascents of different characteristics will be climbed. Overnights in mountain huts. Climbing experience required.
