ICE CLIMBING

INTRODUCTION COURSE
Short stay of four days in Val Varaita at Monviso foothills (Western Alps). The hospitable and agreeable Savigliano Hut in Pontechianale is the base camp for this course dedicated to those climbers willing to safely begin to face the steep ice of the falls. "Piolet traction" climbing technique and the basis of belay and anchors in icy ground will be taught. We'll climb some of the classic routes of the valley.

ICEFALLS OF VAL DI COGNE
This trip is for those climbers with some previous experience in icefall climbing. Participants will have the possibility to lead short pitches or to be led along longer and more difficult routes. Val di Cogne in the Val d'Aosta side of Gran Paradiso National Park is one of the most interesting alpine areas for this sport activity.
