Alle pendici del Gianicolo, in via Garibaldi, sorge un antico convento dei primi del '600, progettato dal famoso Architetto Francesco Borromini, all'interno del quale è stato realizzato l'Hotel Donna Camilla Savelli. Situato in uno dei quartieri più caratteristici di Roma, quale è Trastevere, l’Hotel dopo un’impeccabile opera di restauro, si presenta con 78 camere. L'incantevole vista su Roma offerta dal panoramico Roof Garden, i delicati colori delle magnolie e delle camelie in fiore, l'inebriante profumo del gelsomino, la quiete dello splendido chiostro, offrono all'ospite un'indimenticabile emozione. A small architectural jewel in the heart of Rome, the Donna Camilla Savelli hotel complex, was created from a 17th century convent, originally designed by Francesco Borromini (1599-1667). A corner of tranquillity in the heart of the Trastevere, the Donna Camilla Savelli lies at the foot of the Granicolo, in Via Garibaldi 27. The hotel takes its name from the founder of the religious institute. It was during the year 1642, when Donna Camilla, noble lady of the Farnese family, commissioned Francesco Borromini to design the convent of the “Santa Maria dei Sette Dolori” and the adjoining namesake church. After an immaculate restoration, with respect both to the architectural criteria of the Baroque period and of the original project of Borromini, the convent has been transformed into a four star hotel. The cloister, the refectory, the entrance and communal areas, all conceived by Borromini recalling the classic antiquity and the atmosphere of the Adriana Villa in Tivoli, make the Donna Camilla Savelli a unique entity in the landscape of Italian hotels. |

Dopo un’impeccabile opera di restauro, nel rispetto dei canoni architettonici tipici del Barocco e del progetto originale di Borromini, il convento è diventato un hotel a quattro stelle. Ricavate dalle celle, che in passato hanno ospitato le suore dell’Ordine delle Oblate Agostiniane, le camere dell’hotel si presentano nel loro antico splendore, con travi di legno a vista e mobili antichi, lussuose, ma non sfarzose. Rappresentano una sintesi tra antico e moderno, in cui convivono attenzione al dettaglio e minimalismo. Ogni camera poi presenta caratteristiche uniche. Non esiste, infatti, nell’hotel una camera uguale all’altra. Le 78 camere del Donna Camilla Savelli offrono, soprattutto al tramonto, uno scenario di rara bellezza. Dalle terrazze dell’hotel gli ospiti avranno l’impressione di dominare la Città Eterna. Per sperimentare poi un’esperienza di soggiorno ancora più esclusiva ci sono le suite. Vero e proprio fiore all’occhiello del Donna Camilla Savelli è la Suite Imperiale, impreziosita da un antico rosone. Da qui si può godere a pieno il fascino dell’antico convento e della chiesa attigua. |
Following an immaculate restoration, respecting both the architectural criteria typical of the Baroque period and the original project of Borromini, the convent has been transformed into a four star hotel. The cells, which in past times hosted the nuns of the order “Oblate Agostiniane”, have been developed into the rooms of the hotel; presented in their ancient splendour, with exposed beams of wood and antique furniture. Luxurious but never pompous. Representing a synthesis between antique and modern, in which attention to detail and minimalism co-exist. Each room has its own unique characteristics. In fact there isn’t one single room in the hotel that is identical to another. The 78 rooms of the Donna Camilla Savelli provide, particularly at sunset, a scene of rare beauty. From one of the terraces guests have the impression of dominating the eternal city. For those looking for the ultimate experience in exclusivity there are also the suites. The real “flower of the eye” of the Donna Camilla Savelli is the Imperial Suite, adorned by an ancient rosette. From here one can fully enjoy the fascination of the ancient convent and attached church. |
