So when I intercept the French defensive Atlantic Wall (1940-1944)segment, I do not see remains, ruins, nor historical, but figures.'(M.Moscardini) While the discovery of these figures (reported as unknown because not yet identified or named) seemed to the author an answer to her concerns, on the other hand enumerate and describe them is not enough. She wondered how to communicate the complexity of the relationships that achieve these figures, how do live that complexity in another context. And just working on the specificity of the context, dealing with those behaviors as a model.
1XUnknown is a work in progress that is inscribed in the context of a wider reflection that the artist wants on this occasion to go public through an exhibition, an event and a publication.
So Annexe - 1XUnknown presents itself as a linear process'segment, which wants to show its phases clearly, ending with an attempt to achieve its assumptions: the construction of a pavilion, intended as a eulogy of the air conditioning, put in a scene erosion process. The way of production of the exhibition project will coincide with the statements of the research: those who will be required to support the production of the project, will retain a role coincides with their professionalism and expertise, so that there is no overlap between sponsors and l 'object of production, but a system of exchange decipherable as another economy. As if we built a pavilion of sand directly over the mountains in a plant extraction: the process of disintegration of the volume would return at the end of that same mountain of raw material ready to be used immediately, to return to serve the production cycle of the plant. Margherita Moscardini (Donoratico, 1981) graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna and attended various workshops including the Advanced Course in Visual Arts Foundation Ratti with Yona Friedman (2008), and the workshop of the Fondazione Spinola Banna Art, Turin, with Peter Friedl (2009). E 'was artist in residence at the CCA Andratx, Mallorca, Spain (2010), ArtToday, Center for Contemporary Art in Plovdiv, Bulgaria (2010-2011), Pastificio Ceres, Rome and the Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris (2012) . Solo exhibitions include: 1XUnknown (2012), MACRO Museum, Rome, A Project for the Ancienth Bath (2011), CCA ArtToday, Plovdiv (BG) to study erosion (2011), LaQuadriennale Foundation, Rome; Third Room ( 2008) and a room / out of place (2010), Gallery SpazioA, Pistoia. Group exhibitions: Ariane de Rothschild Prize (2011), Palazzo Reale, Milan, Emerging Talents (2011), CCCStrozzina, Palazzo Strozzi, Florence, In Full Bloom (2010), Galleria Raffaella Cortese, c / o Kaleidoscope project space, Milan , Public Improvisations (2008), Careof, Steam Factory, Milan. A solo show will be hosted by 'Italian Institute of Culture in Istanbul next September as a parallel event of the Biennale of Istanbul.13. In gallery's spaces will be shown drawings, texts and maquettes made during the last year and intended as study materials, visualization tools. These take therefore the size of Annexe, ie documents that make up the body of reflections resulting from 1XUnknown, independent project presented in its initial phase to the museum MACRO in Rome last December.
"1XUnknown was born when I started to look for habitable sculptures, the permanent pavilions that although they belong to the landscape it appears as separate volumes, clear and distinct as a judgment as a 'political instance'. I was looking for volumes occupying spaces like demonstrators' masses occupy know our monuments. With the same force and the same substance: organization and dispersion.
