SPECIAL FOR KIDS

In the spaces of the former San Lorenzo Customs comes Rome Planetarium, the large digital planetarium that collects the baton of astronomical disclosure, pending the reopening of the Eur Planetarium.

The show that rekindles the Planetarium in Rome is a total and vertiginous experience, in which the renewed projection technology allows us to savor the eternal charm of the starry night and at the same time to immerse ourselves in the cosmos in a long subjective flight, through the years light.

Among telescopes, planets, galaxies and star clusters, the astronomers of the Rome Planetarium bring the witness of the EUR dome to the former Dogan of San Lorenzo to project the spectators of the Capital into an exciting cosmic dive without a net.

The new structure will be aimed at scientific dissemination and knowledge of the universe thanks to a program of astronomical shows, conferences, events and observations of the sky guided by the astronomers of Zètema.
They will lead the public through the great themes of the space, time, the origin of the planets and stars with enthralling projections and astronomical shows that will set the style and quality of the scientific dissemination of the Rome Planetarium in the new planetarium.
Scheduling will begin on 4 July with shows in afternoon band and some evening events.
After the summer, it will return to schools with a didactic value and renewed.

The astronomical theater, with a dome of about 12 meters in diameter, offers a first-rate technological support, with 5 4K Barco projectors and a surround system, has a hundred seats and will allow the public to have a totally immersive experience thanks to the most advanced technologies.
In particular, the space navigation software will allow viewers not only to admire a perfect projection of the starry sky, but to cross it to travel between the stars, dive among the orbits of the planets and whirl in real time between the galaxies, to the edges of the universe. Not only: the new system is so versatile that it is possible to animate on the dome explorations of complex molecules and the microworld, as well as hypnotic paths between the creations of video art.

Located inside a pavilion in the complex of the Ex-Customs of San Lorenzo - the industrial archeology complex, once Scalo Merci of the Termini Station and today the city's cultural center - Planetary Rome is part of a new context that brings together cultural activities different, from music to art, to cinema, with a strong vocation for sharing and multimedia: a fertile ground for innovative experiments on science communication, which in the tradition of the Rome Planetarium has always been open to new contaminations and interaction company.

Rome Planetarium recalls the name of the asteroid RomaPlanetario, discovered by one of the astronomers and dedicated by the International Astronomical Union to the Planetarium of Rome: a deliberate choice to trace a common thread that preserves the history and identity of the Planetarium of the Capital.

Fasten your seatbelts: the New Pier becomes the launching pad of the Eternal City towards its digital and spatial future, to fly over the valleys of Mars, cross the rings of Saturn, orbit around ethereal nebulae and circumnavigate the Milky Way!

The Planetarium and Astronomical Museum is temporarily closed due to renovation of the building in compliance with the regulations.
Its activities are transferred to the Planetarium at the Ex Dogana, via dello Scalo of San Lorenzo 10
