Canaletto 1697-1768 on display at the Museum of Rome at Palazzo Braschi.

The exhibition "Canaletto 1697-1768" intends to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the death of the great Venetian painter by presenting the largest group of works of his hand ever exhibited in Italy, 68 including paintings and drawings, including some famous masterpieces.
Giovanni Antonio Canal (Venice 1697 - 1768) known as Canaletto, celebrated with a major retrospective.
Canaletto is one of the best known European eighteenth-century artists. With his pictorial genius he has revolutionized the genre of the scientific and artistic ideals of the Enlightenment.

The most important museums in the world. From the United States, such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the museums of Boston, Kansas City, Cincinnati, to European museums such as the Pushkin Museum in Moscow, the Jacquemart-André in Paris, the Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest, National Gallery in London, to the Italian ones, including the Sforza Castle in Milan and the Borghese Gallery in Rome. Gianni and Marella Agnelli of Turin: The Grand Canal from the north, towards the Rialto bridge, and The Grand Canal with Santa Maria della Carità, exhibited for the first time together with the manuscript of the State Library of Lucca that illustrates the circumstance of the commission and the realization.

In addition to the paintings, you can admire 10 drawings, from small preparatory studies to the magnificent large sheets carefully finished and intended for the most refined collectors or to be engraved. The idea is to illustrate the genesis of the artist's creations, revealing the work behind the scenes, and dissolving the stereotypical image of "Canaletto photographer".
